PhD contract in Simulation and Heuristics for capacity in the Aviation Sector

The Aviation Academy of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences is offering an academic research position for an outstanding and motivated graduated MSC (or close to graduation). The candidate should be motivated and interested in pursuing a PhD degree in the area of Simulation and Optimization for the Aviation Sector (preferably, but other transport modes can be considered).

The University has close collaboration with the University of Toulouse/ENAC (Ecole National de L’Aviation Civil), the University of Lisbon. Therefore, the candidate will receive the PhD from one of the mentioned Institutions (Not from AUAS).

The candidate will join the Simulation Research Group at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences under the supervision of Dr Miguel Mujica Mota (www.mmujicamota.com) under a contract of 1FTE (80/20), which means it will fully contribute to his/her pension. The starting date is in summer 2018.

The PhD Thesis will address problems using simulation-optimization in aviation or transport-related problems in capacity (airspace analysis, airside operations, landside, terminal problems, supply chain and logistics, transport modes among others).

KEY INFORMATION:

  • Topic: Simulation optimisation in Aviation or transport
  • Expected starting date: Summer 2018
  • Funding: Dutch Contract 80/20 (80% research. 20% education)
